L7th Heaven

Thanks to Suki for reminding me just how good L7 are. I meant to follow up on them when I heard the track Shitlist on the Natural Born Killers Soundtrack album years ago and was mightily impressed. It's taken from the album Bricks Are Heavy which is a good place to start with the band. In terms of all female grunge bands they kick Hole's ass. Now that just doesn't sound right now, does it! Here's a video of the girls playing Shitlist in Rio in '93. Play it loud, then play it again, this is good stuff.

2001 - Is it the apes playing?

In space no one can hear you scream. Unless you listened to this in space however, when they'd hear you for sure. Kubrik will be rolling in his grave. Thanks Steve.

Fireballs

Before PXR5 there was XL5. Now now, Venus, none of your feminine intution. Let's stick to the facts.

Frank Skinner - Bin Laden Song

I first saw Frank at the Lichfield Fringe many moons ago, a couple of quid to get in, 20 bods in the audience and Eddie Izzard on the same bill. Being in the front row had the added advantage that he took the Micky out of my baby faced buddy Black Adder at every opportunity. "How's your love life?" he quipped, "Keep plenty of hankies by your bed do you?". Ah golden comedic moments to treasure. Here's a song from the man himself to bring those happy memories flooding back...

Sexwind

Whatever next, Dave Brock singing Pretty Vacant?

Welcome back Nick

Shake It On

It's Friday night so it must be time for a double bill of gratuitous music videos. Yet another way to get stiff. Now that's what I'd call Grindhouse!!! First Lemmy shakes his blood with the Suicide Girls while Dave Grohl does what he does best and plays the drums. I still rate him as one of the finest drummers in the world. Shame he didn't guest with Zeppelin at the recent O2 gig. From the album Probot Then Nick Cave and the Raga Girls bring it on. I actually had the idea for that video, in the sense that the video maker Johnny Hillcoat said, "What do you want to make a video about?" and I asked him, "What do videos looks like on MTV these days?" and he said, "They look like a lot of black girls wiggling their arses at the camera," so this is basically what we ended up doing, really. Nick Cave in an interview for BBC Stoke January 2003 A much better quality version of this video can be seen on Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds - The Abattoir Blu...

Break Dancing News

I hear that Forest have signed Gareth McCleary from Bromley FC . Untried at the professional level he played for England Colleges Under 19s scoring twice in the 7th European Tournament for Youth & Amateur National Teams in Italy in 2006. Gareth has also played for Oxford City. Bromley signed him from the mighty Slough in January 2007. As part of the deal there is a sell-on clause included and Forest will play Bromley in a pre-season friendly at Hayes Lane. A far cry from the days when we bought the leagues first one million pound player, Trevor Francis. My guess is that he'll mature into a great player then we'll sell him on to Spurs, that seems to be the way of the world these days. Either that or he'll go on to join strictly come dancing....

Full Metal Hawkwind

I just stumbled on this on You Tube. Hawkwind 's Assult & Battery/Golden Void as the backing to a Full Metal Alchemist video. Bizarre. Then again it should keep both me and Calvin happy for a while. With two main characters in Full Metal Alchemist having a surname of Elric, a track from The Chronicle of the Black Sword might have been more appropriate. Any excuse to listen to Needle Gun again. Well Jerry Cornelius was an aspect of the eternal champion, as was Elric. A good enough connection for me.

Buffy in da House

Here's my first effort at adding video content to this blog and a step by step, rung by rung (apologies to Huey Lewis), description of what I did to do it. First I videoed Buffy using my phone I then copied the video to my PC and uploaded it to You Tube . I then copied the video's Embeded HTML to the clipboard I then posted a new post on this , clicked on the Edit HTML tab and pasted in the HTML copied in the previous step. And finally Cyril, I added this text to the post to finish things off. Give it a try. You too can be a multi-media megastar (or your cat can).
