I snapped this shot of two Italian Girls sitting in the boot of an estate after Italy's 2-0 win over France. Well, at least it makes a change from being on the roof which some of the Spanish fans did the other week. Maybe they were just born to go.

If the Dutch win tonight there'll probably be hundreds of orange bedecked bikes everywhere. I'm hoping they go through, Holland are arguably the most entertaining team in the tournament, closely followed by Spain. Spain v Holland would be something else. I hope that Turkey get knocked out,my flat in Belgium is in the main Turkish enclave.They kept me awake last Sunday celebrating their victory over the Czechs. If they go on to win the competition I'll just have to join in I think.

George - The NL just didn't come to play last night unfortunately, Russia had more ideas & goals.
Will Spain get rid of their failure hoodoo in late of competition tonight against Italy?
I hope not.

Given where you are in the heart of Belgium you will have to adopt the frontier Libyan civilians during the Desert War WW2 keep a different flag for every eventuality!

Did no one else notice the foul on Van Nistelroy when he narrowly missed scoring at full stretch. He missed making contact by inches and the Rusian defender pulled him back by the shirt 3 times just before. Without the pullback I think he'd have reached the ball and scored. As it was it should have been a penalty and possibly a red card.

I did indeed see it, pity the linesman wasn't as alert as he was the final minutes sending off retraction for Russia!
Pity.

My typo above was intended to read I hope Spain throw off their quarter finals hoodoo and that they beat Italy this evening - now i'd like that!

As before, the bass is supplied by the inimitable Flupke with Simon providing Sitar and keyboard licks on the Hammond. 1. Gilly Smythe, Gong # style, whisper-voices draw you in before Flupke's bass kicks in with the Hammond, underpinning, proceedings. Daffodils & Crêpes

I wandered lonely as a cloud, That floats on high o'er vales and hills, When all at once I saw a crepe eating crowd, A host, of narcotic daffodils. L'amuse Gueule crêperie, a strange venue for music, but in psychedelia strange is good. The last pancakes were munched, the diners departed and the strains of a sitar filled the air. Cue guitar, bass & drums and some hypnotic, pulsating music from The Narcotic Daffodils . At times reminiscent of Hawkwind in their prime, the band produced a wall of sound that had me in head banging heaven. They did however vary their sound quite a bit, with two covers thrown into the mix for good measure. Personally I'd like to hear them do more psychedelic material, but speaking to keyboardist and Sitar maestro Simon Rigot after the show, they want to keep their music varied. But hey, a heady cocktail of rock and mind expanding melodies is OK by me. I'd also like to hear more Sitar, but as Simon also plays keyboards that would be a tad ...
