How I Met Your Get Psyched List

In one of the best season one episodes of How I Met Your Mother, The Limo, Barney, played by the actor formerly known as Dougie Howser, Neil Patrick Harris, gets things going with his Get Psyched playlist. The only song played from it in the show is however Bon Jovi's Shot Through The Heart. Which begs the question, what is the full list.

A bit of googling revealed the following, as identified by fans of the show with the aid of freeze frame, 20/20 vision and a zoom in on the slipcase.

1. “I Wanna Rock” — Twisted Sister
2. “You Give Love A Bad Name” — BJ (Bon Jovi)
3. “Lick It Up” — KISS
4. “Paradise City” — GNR (Guns & Roses)
5. “Dancing With Myself” — Billy Idol
6. “Rock You Like A Hurricane” — Scorpy (Scorpions)
7. “Panama” — Van Halen
8. “Talk Dirty To Me” — Poison
9. “Thunderstruck” — AC/DC
10. “Dr. Feelgood” — Crue (Motley Crue)
11. “Round and Round” — Ratt

Good choice.

An examination of Barney's blog on the CBS website reveals a second version of the list:-

1. “You Give Love a Bad Name” - Jonathan B. Jovi
2. “The Humpty Dance” - Digital Underground
3. “Come Sail Away” - Stix
4. “Don’t Stop Believin’” - Journey
5. “The Transformers Theme Song” - O. Prime
6. “You’re the Best Around” - Joe Esposito
7. “High Enough” - Damn Yankees
8. “Jessie’s Girl” - Rick Springfield
9. “Rock You Like a Hurricane” - The Scorpions
10. “Hip Hop Hooray” - Naughty by Nature
11. “Change of Heart” - Tom Petty
12. “Run Away” - Slade

Interestingly, the track played when the CD was first played in the show, was Bon Jovi's Shot Through The Heart that tallies with the blog version not the listing on the CD case. But with the mighty Thunderstruck on the TV version, I know which one I prefer.

Remember though, if you burn it to CD, don't let Moby steal it.

As an aside you can get the DVD of Season 1
really cheap on Amazon at the moment. Check it out, it's legendary. Thanks to Laura for the heads up on the show.

Now the hard part, if you were going to put together a CD's worth of heart pounding, adrenalin fueled, all thriller no filler, musical mayhem, what would make the grade?

To be continued...

Yup, Barney rules.

CD wise, it would be;

Rock Out - Motorhead
Rock You - Helix
Rock You Like A Hurricane - the Scorpions
I Love Rock n' Roll - Joan Jett & the Blackhearts
Old Time Rock n' Roll - Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band
I Wanna Rock - Twisted Sister
Rock and Roll Hoochie Coo - Rick Derringer
For Those About To Rock - AC/DC
Rock n' Roll Soul - Grand, Funk & Railroad
Long Live Rock n' Roll - Rainbow
Rock And Roll Outlaw - Foghat
Rock n' Roll Outlaw - Rose Tattoo
Rock 'n' Roll - Motorhead

There might be a theme in there somewhere.

I've seen some episodes of 'How I...' first introduced to it via some in-flight telly transatlantic last December.

As for a no-holds-barred CD list with more mix than Bertie Bassett...
right now I'd go for this...

1. Neon Knights - Sabs
2. Dissident Agressor - Judas Priest
3. Captain Nemo - MSG
4. Like Hell - Loudness
5. Queen of Spades - Styx
6. Ballad Of Edward Case - Tytan
7. Mainline Rider - Quartz
8. Sorcerer - Angel Witch
9. Rolling Out The Dice - Waysted
10.Narita - Riot
11.Rock Candy - Montrose

Having just staggered in from Raskom I'm just giving Neon Nights a spin. Classic Dio, classic Sabbath.
